Yes, my mom had a stroke on Monday. No, we don’t know why yet. She’s still in hospital. Thank you all for your kindness.

I’m so sorry this has happened and that you feel so helpless being so far away. The truth is, even when we can busy ourselves and rush about here there and everywhere, you’re no more able to control or grab hold of the situation there than you are here… You just feel it more here when you can’t pretend you’re doing something to make a difference. That meant to sound comforting but it reads back cold… I’m sorry.
I’m sending positive thoughts and much sympathy your way for your entire family… I hope everything works out and you get answers soon.

I think there are things you can do – like spend time together. Comforting to both parties! But I do take your point.
